In this article we are going to see how we can customize jmeter when executing with maven plugin. This is continuation post of previous article.
if we use very minimum elements in Jmeter, we may not need jmeter complete version to run, we can run minimum jmeter. That means, less download time, less java memory usages, faster loading. We will see this here.
Now, when testing in jmeter, if we need any 3rd party JAR/Lib, how we can do that. We will see that now.
Adding 3rd party JARs
- This will JARs at /lib directory
<testPlanLibraries>
<artifact>group.id:artifact-id:version-no</artifact>
</testPlanLibraries>
Excluding Jars
<excludedArtifacts>
<artifact>group.id:artifact-id:version-no</artifact>
</excludedArtifacts>
Adding Jars in /lib/junit
<junitLibraries>
<artifact>group.id:artifact-id:version-no</artifact>
</junitLibraries>
Project with min version Jmeter
In this project We will remove some jars to make jmeter small
by default, if we run the project without excluding any JAR, we will see these JARs in jmeter lib directory

After this in lib folder you will see those JARs are gone.
So, finally this is the pom.xml
Project Source
NOTE : Don’t just blindly remove dependent JARs. You should have good hold on Jmeter code base to know which are mandatory for components you use in your test case. If you remove necessary JAR, build will fail.
Project with 3rd party external JAR
For this example, I am using activemq jar to include.
<testPlanLibraries>
<artifact>org.apache.activemq:activemq-all:5.16.0</artifact>
</testPlanLibraries>
And we can see
So, finally the pom is here
NOTEs :
- I ran the project with
mvn clean verify
- For external jar adding project, please ignore test case. I am showing only configuration, test case is not important here.
Thanks :)
